There have been international calls for calm after at least 16 soldiers and civilians were killed during heavy fighting between Armenia and Azerbaijan on Sunday.
It is the latest flare-up in a long-running conflict over the region of Nagorno-Karabakh, a majority ethnic Armenian area that has been running its own affairs since the 1990s in spite of being physically within Azerbaijan.
The fighting has reignited concern about stability in the South Caucuses, a corridor for pipelines carrying oil and gas to world markets.

Al Jazeera’s Robin Forestier-Walker reports from neighbouring Tbilisi, Georgia.
