The Nobel Prize for literature has just been awarded to a Tanzanian-born novelist, Abdulrazak Gurnah's.
Gurnah's work focuses on colonialism and the fate of refugees.
It is the first time a non-European or non-American has won the prize in more than 10 years.
He arrived in the United Kingdom as a refugee aged 18 in the 1960s and has now retired from teaching English at the University of Kent.
