Last Sunday's Euro Championship final was meant to be a unifying moment for England, who reached that stage for the first time in 55 years.
Instead, three black players who helped achieve that accomplishment, faced a barrage of racial abuse from fans online after missing penalties.
UK Prime minister Boris Johnson has pledged to ban those who racially abuse footballers from stadiums for up to ten years.
He's also threatening to fine tech companies if they fail to prevent racist content appearing on their platforms.
So, why is the abuse happening now?
