At least four people, including a commander of the Palestinian group Islamic Jihad, have been killed in the besieged Gaza Strip in overnight Israeli raids.
Bahaa Abu al-Ata and his wife were killed in a raid on his home in Gaza. The raids also hit apartments and a Hamas facility in Gaza.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is expected to address the media soon over the matter.
Furthermore, Israeli warplanes fired missiles towards Damascus, into the Mezzah neighbourhood. Two of those hit the house of Akram al-Ajouri - another commander of Islamic Jihad. His son and granddaughter were killed in the attack.
Al Jazeera's Rob Matheson has more from West Jerusalem.
