During the pandemic, pharmaceutical manufacturers pledged not to compete as they raced to make a vaccine for COVID-19. Four years later, Moderna is suing Pfizer/BioNTech for royalties, claiming the company used its patented technology. Pfizer/BioNTech has asked the London High Court to cancel a Moderna patent. The case is ongoing in five countries and will take years to resolve.
